Family Arms Race
My youngest is getting more dexterous by the week. We’ve removed the drop down side of her crib awhile ago because she was attempting to climb out of it.
Gates went up around the house months ago, but because she now attempts to climb over them, we were closing doors everywhere. As of ast week, she figured out how to turn door knobs, so we now have white plastic knob covers on most doors as well.
Prior to this month, our TV did not have a working remote, but we had to repair it because she mastered pressing the power button on the TV at the most inopportune times. Now, with a working remote in hand, we have a clear plexiglas shield over the power button.
These covers are a nuisance for us to have around, but they appear to be our only choice. For a brief respite, Chris and I went out for Valentine’s Day. We had a babysitter over to watch the girls. We set out a frozen pizza for them and went to a nice dinner and movie.
When we got back, the dinner dishes were uncharacteristically left in the sink. Our babysitter apologized and remarked that she unfortunately didn’t know how to operate the new plastic latch on the dishwasher.
